Safeguarding
Our school takes the safety and wellbeing of its community very seriously. In particular, we all share a responsibility for safeguarding the children in our care, and we aim to work closely with parents, carers and the broader community to do this.
Through our carefully-planned programme of lessons, assemblies and visits, we provide our children with the knowledge and understanding they need to keep themselves safe and to look after their physical and mental health. We also work hard to create a community where every child has a trusted adult to whom they can turn for advice or help – and the confidence and communication skills to do so.
Two members of our team have a specific responsibility for ensuring that children are properly safeguarded, and we are available to speak to anyone who would like their advice or support:
Andy Hodgkinson
Assistant Principal and
Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
Antony Smith
Principal, Deputy DSL and Designated Teacher for Looked After Children
If you are worried about a child, we encourage you to speak to us as soon as possible. We encourage you to share even minor concerns: we assure you that we will not overreact, but we will do what we need to do to make sure that every child is able to lead the life they deserve, free from harm or the fear of harm.
In an emergency, always call 999.
We may also be contacted via email at safeguarding@millbankgardens.futureacademies.org, although this is not suitable for urgent matters.
