Wraparound Care
Our school opens at 7.45am with Breakfast Club, which is free of charge. As well as offering a nutritious breakfast, children have the chance to spend time with their friends, whether reading or drawing together, playing games or just having a chat. They are looked after by our experienced staff, of course, but they are also supported by senior students from Westminster School, who volunteer their time to help our children have a positive start to the day.
After school, for those children not attending any of our free extra-curricular activities, we have a ‘play centre’ that runs until 6.00pm. The focus is on having fun with one’s friends – and, perhaps, making new friends – in a safe, calm environment. A range of activities and games is set out in our hall so that there is something for everyone to enjoy, but we also sometimes spend time in the playground or computing suite. In warmer weather, with parents’ permission, we may visit some of the local playgrounds very near to our school.
We know how important wrap-around care is to our families, and we work hard to ensure that it is open to as many children as possible – and both Breakfast Club and Play Centre are happily attended by even our youngest children. We do, however, ask parents to register with us before their children attend so that we can decide together whether your child is able to benefit from the longer and less structured school day that is involved.
